. . .
The sound of waves brings you to consciousness.

Where...
Where are you?
You look around. There's sand beneath you. You sit up and wipe some of it off. A crab scurries in your peripheral. A few trees were scattered in your view, with the ocean all around and a few large islands in the near distance.
. . .
[[You were on an island.]]
<</type>>
<<type $speed>>
You stand and wipe any remaining sand off of you as well as you can.
You try and think back to how you got here...
[[You were on a boat.]]
[[You were on a plane.]]
[[You couldn't remember...|aftermath]]
<</type>><<type $speed>>
You were on a boat, last you remember. You must've gotten caught in a storm, and got washed up here in the aftermath.

Regardless, the important part is that you didn't drown. From what you've heard, it's a pretty horrid experience.

[[You examine y- OOoOOh, a crab!!|OOoOOh, a crab!!]]
<</type>><<type $speed>>
There's sand around you. A lot, but not enough to survive comfortably on. There's a few sand mounds near the other end of the small island. Over to the left was a small group of trees. There was also some washed up debris (wood??) closer to the water.

There wasn't anything on them except leaves, but there was a pile of dead tree stuff at the base of them.

Looking out, you can spot another, larger island. It's probably best to get there instead of here.
But you'll need something to get there. A <span class="important">raft</span>, perhaps?

You sit down and start putting the pieces together in your head. And hands. You were just getting right into this, huh?
You attach the <span class="important">wooden boards</span> to each other with the <span class="important">vines</span>. It takes around an hour or two in total. Maybe even 3. But the sun is setting by the time you're done, and the tide has increased greatly, consuming around half the island already. It's probably best to get the <span class="important">paddle</span> and newly made <span class="important">raft</span> and head on to the next island now.
[[Start to the next island.]]
<</type>><<type $speed>>
You push off the sand, getting on the raft. It's quite flimsy, seeming to break a bit at the slightest wave. You use the paddle to slowly push yourself to the [[next island]].

The waves push you harshly onto the rocky shore. You quickly jump off the raft as it breaks to pieces. Seems it wasn't as sturdy as you thought.
Or at all.
Good thing the island was this close by.
You still have your <span class="important">paddle</span> with you, though. Small mercies.
[[You look out to the island.]]
<</type>><<type $speed>> <<if $friend eq 2>><<set $friend to 1>><<else>><</if>>
It was larger than the other island by a magnitute of at least three with rocks covering the shores. No wonder the raft broke on impact.
<<if $night eq 1>>The sun was almost fully set, painting the sky with vibrant orange and pink hues. Although you were out in the middle of nowhere, you don't think the night would pose any dangers. Maybe a light chill in the air. <<else>>It's a bright morning when you awake. You blink as the sun hits you in full force, wiping the sleep out of your eyes. The sky was a bright blue, with the sun mostly risen. <</if>>
The island had three parts: The main island, which you were on, and two smaller lobes. The lobe to your left had some debris washed up on the shore. Quite more than before, but still smelling like dead fish and salt, you assume. The other lobe had some rocks and pools of water. Tide pools. At the other end of the main island was a group of shrubs and plants.

In another direction was another island. A very, very large one. Giant rocks raised to the sky, looking like jagged mountains. You could spot a sandy shore and a cave opening, with flora all around the rocks.
You should probably proceed further if you wanted to survive longer than a few days. The island you were on right now was a comfortable size, but it was still prone to harsh weather, and there was still the problem of food or water.
Your stomach growled in hunger. <<if $friend eq 1>>The <span class="important">sea mink</span> looked at you in slight concern at the noise.<<else>><</if>>Perhaps the other island had food? Your mouth felt dry too...
